Since over 40 years they are the biggest sailmaker in The Netherlands.
Located at Makkum in Frisia, they are our main supplier for our sails. Starting with the very first Compromis and right up to the most recent C-Yacht,
all sails are produced and delivered by De Vries Sails..

Cruising Offshore edition

The Cruising Offshore edition was created with intensive and long-term use in mind. For yachts cruising both in coastal waters and out at the open sea. Made of High Tenacity Quality Dacron.

Cut
Cross-cut allround sail for intensive use while cruising. Robust and durable, with good trim possibilities.

Sailcloth
Very tightly, fill-oriented woven polyester (Dacron). Durable finish, High Tenacity Quality yarn.

X-Drive Silver® edition

Sailcloth
Newest sailcloth produced by UK: Cruising Offshore Performance, cruising laminate. Shape-retaining, lighter and easier to trim. The X-Drive Silver edition with Pentex threads was designed for discerning sailors. It is especially suitable for long-term use.

3D technique
X-Drive is a unique technique, patented by UK, for the construction of light, smooth, durable and shape-retaining sails. Two elements combine most effectively here:
A light membrane created by 3D and a continuous web of strong, inductile threads which give the sail its strong structural integrity.

The membrane or skin consists of horizontal (cross-cut) panels – the best method to produce an elegant and uniform sail profile. Base material of the skin is a light scrim with two mylar films. In- between these, a polyester or aramide reinforcement.

Shape-retaining
The pattern of the S-Glass strings, their course and distance between each other corresponds perfectly to the material stress patterns of the sail, be that reefed or full. Result is a smooth, even and very shape-resistant sail. The ‘tight’ weaving layout of the fully continuous, uninterrupted yarn ensures that this type of sail will resist to deformation even under extreme material stress:
No deformation, slip or seam damage is to be expected.
